Today we are sightseeing Quebec City. It is at the mouth of the St. Lawrence Seaway, so it has seen a lot of history. We were thinking some of the oldest things we've ever seen may be here (but then a former co-worker reminded me there is a lot of really old stuff in Santa Fe, NM). Regardless, quite historic with all the explorers, like Jean Nicolet who came and discovered (for Europeans) what would be become the state of Wisconsin.

But first, we discovered some of the games we had at the home we are staying at. They had this Frozen game, and we brought a lot of our Frozen action figures from home. It can get kind of silly when you have four Kristoffs, three Elsa, three Anna, etc.

Back to Quebec City, it was a French area at first, so they built a battery to fend off the British (for as long as they could).

Here is more views of the very old city. Many building from the 1600s.

The hotel at the top is the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. I needed to copy the name from Google - interesting tidbit, it is $551 per night (not sure if that is USD).

Here is Umbrella Alley - ironically it was raining a little bit today.

One small downer, we will not be able to see the inside of this church (Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Catholic Church). It is only open on Sunday. Sounds like the busy season for Canadian tourism will begin in 2 days or so...then it will be open more often. It has a boat up near the ceiling, that was what we wanted to see.

To get to the top, you can take the Funiculaire du Vieux-Québec for $5 Canadian.

At the top are a bunch of pictures...

Once at the top, it was kind of tough to go back down to get our lunch, so we had Starbucks croissants. I don't think there were really any other cheap eats in this part of the city.

We weren't able to do a few of the things today, so hoping to go back tomorrow to see the hotel (it isn't open for visitors after 2PM). We might also do a historic tour. Might be rainy, but we've had good weather for this trip so far.

On the way back, we were in bad traffic. Heidi saw a "book box," so we decided to stop and take a look.

I made basil pesto pasta at home for dinner (enough for two nights) and then took the drone out for some sunset views of Quebec City on the horizon.
